- 20 litre empty pail
- pail of water
- rubber straps, ends connected to form a circle
- lengths of rope (about 6 equal lengths, plus 2 for circles)
- disposable drinking cups
set up the area as follows:
- make two large circles (approx. 5 metres dia.) by laying the rope on the ground, 5 metres apart
- in one circle place empty 20 litre pail upside down
- place drinking cup full of water in centre of pail bottom
- tie the six lengths of rope evenly around the black rubber strap (only tie one end)
- object is to move the pail and cup of water from radioactive area (circle of rope) to safe area (other circle of rope)
- the patrol picks up the pail with the strap by stretching it and placing it overtop of the pail and lowering it around the pail (youth must not touch the strap, only the ropes
- the group must then carry the bucket using the ropes from one circle to the other without spilling the water
- water refill is at the Mud Puppy
- if the radioactive water is spilled or youth step inside the circle, they must begin again.
